If you’re like me then you’re always trying to find new, natural ways of helping your hair grow. I came across a YouTube video about using rice water for fast hair growth and after watching it, I couldn’t help but wonder, is rice water the new coconut oil?
I came across a tweet asking whether rice water was the real plug for hair growth and if so, how do you use it? Almost every response spoke very highly of using rice water to complement your hair regime and increase hair growth. I’ve also seen testimonials like:
This sent me to tutorial land, yes Youtube, to find out exactly how to formulate my own concoction. This is when I came across Mery Gono’s video. In her video, she shows you how to mix up your own bottle of rice water and demonstrates her application. She recorded her hair growth results after two weeks and it’s safe to say, rice water looked like miracle hair juice. But then I got to thinking, did her hair grow like that because she naturally has very long and lush hair, or was it really RW? How safe is RW? And what are the possible side effects? So I kept digging and this is what I found.
Here’s what I’ve concluded about RW:
It stimulates hair growth
It is safe to use but only in moderation
It has nasty side-effects if you are not patient and over-use it
Will I be trying RW for myself? Yes. Will I be mixing it with essential oils to protect and nourish my hair? Definitely, MPL Black Castor Oil to be specific.
If you will be trying our rice water for yourself, make sure to use it sparingly and include your favourite MPL product to protect your hair. Here’s to long and healthy hair!
